Opinion: 2016 a Tipping Point for Software Defined Networks (SDNs)

What's ahead for telecom in 2016? Here's one way to sum it up: end-to-end network visibility gives providers control they need to optimize the customer experience and achieve competitive differentiation.

2015 Results: Accedian Grows Sales by 25 Percent

During 2015, Accedian grew its overall sales by 25 percent--strong momentum built by a a series of significant operator contract wins, including new deployments with four of the world’s major service providers (Telefonica, South Korea Telecom, T-Mobile, and Cox Business). Also during 2015, Accedian added 75 new employees to its global workforce.

Q and A: Virtualized VoLTE

What's behind the increasing investment in voice over LTE (VoLTE) on the part of network operators? Short-term, it's mostly about keeping up with data traffic growth and delivering voice services more efficiently. But there's much more to the story. Accedian at Mobile World Congress: VoLTE QoE Demo

At Mobile World Congress next month, Accedian is showcasing the world premiere of FlowBROKER™, an industry-first virtualized solution for all-layer quality of experience (QoE) monitoring.

FlowBROKER allows operators to gain direct insight into application performance, multi-layer network behavior, intrusion detection, policy enforcement, and user experience at all locations throughout LTE and 5G networks.

Throughout the show, Accedian will be demonstrating FlowBROKER monitoring VoLTE calls, using DPI to resolve QoE metrics from multiple locations, in real-time. Reserve a time to meet directly with our CEO and CTO for a hands-on demo, and to see howFlowBROKER can significantly enhance network efficiency, granularity, fidelity, and visibility.

Mind Commerce: Next-Gen B/OSS Key to Virtualized Networks

As noted by the Metro Ethernet Forum, one thing that's holding Carrier Ethernet providers back form deploying dynamic services is lack of necessary capabilities in existing Operations Support Systems (OSS) and Business Support Systems (BSS). In a market forecast report published late last month, Mind Commerce explores what next generation B/OSS provides by way of competitive advantages and how those features are driving adoption by communication service providers.

MEF: LSO, SDN, NFV Crucial to Carrier Ethernet Dynamic Services

As 2016 gets underway, the topic of 'dynamic services' already is heating up to be a major focus. What capabilities are available (or planned) to allow customers can use to control dynamic services from their own networks? What role do LSO, SDN, and NFV play in moving the Carrier Ethernet 2.0 market forward? What are the deployment drivers, benefits, and challenges for dynamic services? These are some of the questioned posed by MEF recently in a survey of Ethernet and cloud services providers.

MiFID II timestamping: white elephant or white knight?

Originally published on Finance Magnates

The narrative surrounding MiFID II so far hasn’t exactly been a positive one and few in the financial services industry have cast ESMA as the hero of the story. While the industry accepts the need for changes to certain practices, MiFID II represents the most far-reaching change ever to hit the industry in one fell swoop. Change of that magnitude is scary; it’s also potentially expensive and difficult. So some trepidation is understandable. However, is it possible we’re telling the wrong story?
