BTE 2015 recap: Telecom as we know it is over. What's next?

Stop us if you've heard this one before: Telecom is dead. Long live telecom!

That is the overarching message in Light Reading's BTE 2015 Show Report (sponsored by Accedian Networks). The report concludes that telecom as we know it is ending... but what's emerging is much bigger and more exciting.

At the Big Telecom Event this year, leaders from the likes of AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Level 3 Communications, CenturyLink, and Google took on a peer-to-peer educational role, sharing useful insights while confirming that the industry is headed for great things.

The BTE 2015 Show Report emphasizes that:

  • Network operators and service provider leaders are faced with an unprecedented set of critical decisions that could make or break their companies and their careers.
  • Topics that must be considered range from hybrid network management and orchestration and DDoS attacks to IoT's role in smart cities, and strategies for rolling out cloud DVR and 4K services.
  • Although the path to communications networking prosperity is a tricky one to navigate, innovation is clearly alive and well in telecom—across all segments and players.

For more insight into these and related topics discussed during BTE 2015, be sure to check out Accedian's BTE 2015 recap video.
